Comittee Descriptions
Programs Chair
Arranges fiber arts programs of an educational and/or entertainment value for Guild meetings to include the interest of as many members as possible. The programs should have broad value for WWG members and include a range of interests or creativity. Arrangements include contacting, scheduling, making necessary travel and housing arrangements for presenters. Coordinates newsletter, website and other guild publicity. Assists with program setup and takedown, arranges presenter payment and reimbursements and coordinates with Workshops Chair as necessary.
Librarian
Maintains the library materials and coordinates checkout for members in good standing. A fee is charged for overdue or lost items. The librarian may add to the collection within the budget.
Workshops Chair
Plans, organizes, and oversees Guild workshops to cover a wide spectrum of fiber arts and Guild member interests. Arrangements include contacting, scheduling and making necessary travel and housing arrangements for presenters, signing up Guild member participants, arranging workshop venue and logistics, workshop assistants, workshop setup and takedown, presenter payment and reimbursements and coordinating with Program Chair as necessary. Fees paid by the participants to cover all costs of a workshop. Registration is confirmed when a deposit is received by the Treasurer. Deposits, less incurred costs, are refundable to the confirmed registrants if the workshop is cancelled.
Membership / Directory Chair
Welcomes and introduces new members and guests to the Guild; provides name tags, directories and other necessary information; gives special recognition of members when deserved; and notifies members who are delinquent with dues. The membership chair prepares and distributes an annual directory with members’ information and Guild organization details.
ANWG Representative
Represents the WWG at the Association of Northwest Weavers Guilds meetings and in its publications and reports ANWG news to the Guild membership.
Historian
Records and shares Guild history with the membership, summarizes Guild activity, and keeps an annual report.
Hostess Coordinator
Organizes monthly hostess and clean-up volunteers, stocks and organizes the necessary supplies.
Island Fair Chair
Serves as steward for the Island County Fair. Advises Guild members about Fair entry requirements and deadlines. Coordinates entry check in, judging, set up of the Fiber Arts display area. Recruits Guild volunteers for demonstrations, education and other Guild promotional activities.
Spin-In Chair
Responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of the annual Spin-in event held traditionally the first weekend of April. This includes making the initial logistic and program arrangements, recruiting committee heads and overseeing the following committees: Program, Vendors, Publicity, Refreshments, Participant Recruitment and Registration, Facility and Technical Needs, Raffle, Door Prizes and Popular Vote, and Workshop (if offered in addition to Spin-in).
Sunshine Chair
Sends messages of cheer or sympathy to members.
Grant / Study Funds Chair
Forms a committee, generally four members, including the Guild treasurer, that administers the Janet Bratz Memorial Grant and the Study Funds Programs.
Equipment Chair
Maintains, catalogues, initiates repair and keeps track of Guild equipment borrowed by members in good standing. Coordinates posting of equipment inventory information and pictures on the Guild website. Makes recommendations to the Guild regarding equipment expenditures.
Education Chair
Facilitates and promotes the education of Guild members in weaving, spinning, and other fiber arts. Organizes the annual Guild challenge, small educational talks, helps create educational booths at Co. Fair and ANWG. Assists to promote community outreach in the form of demonstrations at venues such as Arts Festivals and the Sale.
Uncommon Threads Sale Chair
Responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of the annual members Sale typically held the first weekend of November. This includes making the initial logistic arrangements, recruiting committee heads and overseeing the following committees: Set up, Display, Publicity, Signage, Inventory, Accounting / Cashiering, Take down / clean up, Volunteers, Standards, Raffle, Models and Demonstrations.
Publicity Chair
Posts monthly announcements of Guild meeting and activities to local papers, websites, etc. This needs to be done approximately three weeks prior to each event. Computer / internet access is necessary and this job can be done by a member not local to Whidbey Island.

Responsible for updating and maintaining the Guild website and links.
