LINDA WARFORD
Linda Warford is a multimedia artist whose love for nature and life has led her to Whidbey Island where all around her she has found inspiration for her art. Linda has had a number of influences in her art that include people, culture, experiences, and her love of nature. Nature is major influencer for it gives Linda an opportunity to explore color, detail, and vastness. Her 25+ years of art curating experiences at the Anchorage Museum, Santa Barbara Museum, and various galleries and local venues, was important for it introduced her to different forms of art as well as artists. Linda is a self-taught artist, drawing from a variety of influences, and special training. She was honored to have received special training in sumi-e and gyotaku from master artist J. Miyashiro. Currently, Linda’s artistic energies are focused on, gkyotaku art, the ancient Japanese art of printing fish. Fishermen created gyotaku to keep track of their valued catches but today it is appreciated as an art form. Linda works in a variety of mediums including pen/pencil, oils, watercolor, fabrics, metal, paper, and recycled materials. Linda has participated in numerous art exhibits arranging in various mediums, acrylic paintings, textile fusion, sculptures, papermaking and cord basket & Pine Needle Basket Weaving.
