NANCY SKULLERUD
I can’t imagine a life without art. It provides enjoyment and meaning in a way nothing else does. This enrichment led me to teach art to others in high school, middle school, and college. Teaching and creative projects have always presented new challenges and experiences that continue to make me feel alive. My art teaching career in Public education lasted 42 years. Now I have time to create art.
I have worked in virtually every medium from colored pencil, watercolor and acrylic paint, to printmaking with plants and feathers and mixed media collage pieces. I also make jewelry - earrings, pins and necklaces.
Part of what I love about art is sharing it with others and seeing their delight when they own something beautiful. My years of selling at farmer’s markets and meeting the people who buy my art have been very rewarding. I know people enjoy what I make when they smile, laugh and tell others about it.
I live and garden in Coupeville on Whidbey Island, with my husband who is a wonderful artist. We moved to Whidbey Island from Shoreline in 2008 where I taught art for 34 years in the Shoreline School District.
I am thankful for a great life and a wonderful place to live and the opportunity to express myself every day.
