LAURA ROETCISOENDER - CHILDRENS BOOK AUTHOR
Although I have written several manuscripts for children’s books, Priscilla Gets Lost! is my first book to be published. I’ve always loved being around little children and in 1995, I started volunteering at Pike Market Childcare and Preschool, one afternoon a week for 5 years, and read to the kids. I believe that is how I first became interested in writing for 3-5 year olds.
Retiring from US WEST Telephone Co. in 2000, my desire was to move out of Seattle and in 2001, my partner, our cat and dog and I moved to Whidbey. Around 2010, I started volunteering for the Family Resource Center in Langley, caring for the children while the parents attended classes.
Then in 2016 we sold our house and went on the road, touring the US and part of Canada for about 5 years. While traveling, I decided to try to publish the manuscript I had written about my idea of how pigeons started to ride on the Mukilteo ferry. I sent it to Newman Springs Publications and it was accepted and here it is!
